February 2026 Updates

Great dragon book news at last! And other news...

February 2026 Updates

Dear Readers,

Oh, am I glad it's February! This is MY month. It's my birth month, it contains the chocolate holiday, it's the shortest month, and (extreme bias you may have noticed in several books and stories of mine) it has the best birthstone, amethyst. Also, February gets us that much closer to Spring here in the northern hemisphere. I'm excited. Let's dive in!

Early Praise for The Vale of Seven Dragons

I am so thrilled by early feedback on my epic fantasy debut!

“An enchanting adventure.”
– Caitlin RozakisNew York Times bestselling author of Dreadful

The Vale of Seven Dragons is a wild and wonderful fantasy adventure. Compelling characters, plenty of action, romance, and snark!”
– Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of Red Empire and Ghosts of the Void

“Gammon’s wildly entertaining stable of characters and epic fantasy settings coupled with her uncanny knack for adventure will have you flipping through the pages of The Vale of Seven Dragons into the wee hours of the morning.”
– Michael Boulerice, author of Inhalation and Feeding the Wheel

“Five stars. Jendia Gammon’s done it again! With breathtaking plotting, complex world-building, and the voracious readability of an instant classic, The Vale of Seven Dragons truly has it all. This tale of magic and mayhem, friendship and family, will appeal to fans of fantasy and coming-of-age stories alike. Highly recommended!”
– Danika (D.K.) Stone, best-selling, multi-genre author of Switchback, All the Feels, Internet Famous, Inescapable and the Waterton trilogy

The Vale of Seven Dragons puts the epic in epic fantasy. With a vivid world that continues to grow with each chapter and a fantastic cast of characters, this propulsive coming of age story blends genres and familiar tropes with ease. From fae groves to cosmic horror and a mind-blowing climax, I’m raring to read more in this expansive universe Jendia Gammon has created!”
— Harvey Hamer, Diamond Dimensions Universe author and Star Wars Insider contributor

“Thilly is a princess for modern teens. She’s not just a pretty trinket to look at. She has spunk and tenacity too. We need more tales where princesses aren’t just pretty girls sitting in ballrooms all day waiting to be saved by princes. Jendia Gammon has done it again with another wonderful world she’s built for us to visit.”
— Nora B. Peevy, reviewer for Hellnotes

Longlisted for Six BSFA Awards!

In case you missed it, I've been longlisted for six British Science Fiction Association (BSFA) Awards, five as a writer, one as an artist (first art nominations in many years for me)! I've written a blog all about it:

Longlisted for Multiple BSFA Awards as Writer and Artist! - Jendia Gammon
Jendia Gammon announces several BSFA Award longlisted titles for both her writing and her art.

For BSFA voting members, you have until February 19th to vote for the shortlist finalists. Here's the link, and I greatly appreciate your consideration for these categories!

BSFA Awards 2025
Voting is open to all BSFA members. You can select up to four works per category. Voting will close on 19 February. Please don’t vote for your own work. If you don’t yet have or can’t find your membership number, that’s OK, but if you can supply it it makes it easier for us to check your membership status. Questions can be directed to BSFA Chair Stewart Hotston (chair@bsfa.co.uk). The longlists on the website have samples of some works. Find them here: bsfa.co.uk/awards-longlist/. If you are an author or publisher with a longlisted work and would like to provide a link to a sample, please get in touch. Please don’t share links to this form publicly.

Updates for Dungeon Crawl at the Haunted Mall

My second book out in April, Dungeon Crawl at the Haunted Mall, is out April 21. This is a true Choose Your Own Adventure brand book, and it's a warped blast of a thing. You can preorder it from pretty much everywhere, and this is the first book of mine that will be distributed everywhere, so you can hopefully buy it off the shelf in comic book shops, bookstores, department stores, even some gift shops. It's like nothing I've ever experienced before! I hope you love it.

Preorder links ahoy:

Early Praise for Dungeon Crawl at the Haunted Mall

The press for this book will really ramp up later this month and especially into March. Until then, I have some early praise!

“Frightening, disgusting, and in very bad taste – and that’s just the ’80s outfits! A horrific trip to the past, filled with excitement and danger.”
– Antony JohnstonNew York Times bestselling author of Atomic Blonde and The Dog Sitter Detective series

Dungeon Crawl at the Haunted Mall promises fun and excitement for the old fans like myself, and the kids in your life, you know would get a kick out of some 80s and flavored weirdness. I laughed so hard I cried happy tears.”

A New Stars and Sabers Book!

Just in time for Valentine's Day, my press, Stars and Sabers Publishing, releases P.A. Cornell's exquisite little novelette, Shoeshine Boy & Cigarette Girl! Out this coming Tuesday, February 3, this might be just the delightful, feel-good read you've been looking for. Set in a retrofuturistic Toronto, it's a sci-fi romance with big hearts and charming ideas. Cover art by Kim Herbst and interior illustrations by Ahmed Raafat.

Writing Updates

I am writing the Vale sequel, Coursers of Wings and Flame. With a due date of March, I am immersing myself fully back into this fantastical fantasy land I've made. I can't say much about it without spoiling the first book, mentioned earlier. But I can tell you that there are sinister dealings afoot, secrets that could lead to the undoing of fragile alliances, spies everywhere, and horrific things happening out of the view of waking eyes. Mix a budding romance, political intrigue, and mythical creatures and monsters all together, and you've got a heck of a sequel expanding the story. This is fun!

For the book I turned in this past December, the final Amethyst Lantern book The Dawn of Dusk and Twilight, I received editorial notes this past week. They were very complimentary, and I am pleased. No rewrites, only some adjustments coming in the line edits next month. This is a prequel, so it starts in our time, and it's adult, not young adult. The final book in the series, it promises to unveil how the world of Glimmerbight came to be, the adults who dealt with the end of the world, and found family who lost everything. And there's even a tender romance and a love triangle to boot. It's a good tale for right now as we have to answer many questions the younger generations rightfully are asking of us. More on this final book in the series as I can share. It's out in October.

And you can now preorder my August release, Godfestation, an Appalachian weird horror novella that is allegorical and fantastical, a new dark fairytale for our time, woven with my own origin and tinged with the power of grief and love.

Godfestation by Jendia Gammon
Godfestation is an Appalachian weird horror novella by Nebula and BSFA finalist author Jendia Gammon, releasing August 2026 via Sley House Publishing.

I have loads more news about short stories I've written, but that can wait for the next newsletter. I may have another one this month, regarding the Oz anthology I'm building. Stay tuned and...

Write on!
