Latest News and Upcoming Events - August and Beyond

Hi everyone,

I hope August is treating you well! Here in Southern California, it's been pretty toasty inland, but the coast has been quite pleasant, so I've tried to venture out that way a bit more. I've also returned to some favorite spots elsewhere in Los Angeles, such as House of Pies, from which I got the lovely lemon meringue pie slice you see above. It was huge, so I took half of it home.

I also took my newest book, To Wonder and Starshine, to the beach one day:

This charming short story collection is available now, and you can read more about it here:

To Wonder and Starshine is a collection of fantasy and science fiction tales from Nebula and BSFA award finalist Jendia Gammon, published by Trepdiatio Publishing.

In other news, I have upcoming events of interest!

Midsummer Scream - Workshop

First up, on Saturday, August 16, I'm hosting a short horror fiction writing workshop at the awesome horror mega-convention, Midsummer Scream! This will take place at 4:30 PM, and if you're going, stop by as I'll have some free swag.

Panel at Scream Diego!

I've been invited to participate in a panel on writing monsters for Scream Diego! This is a newer horror convention in San Diego, and there are quite a few awesome folks who will be there. More info on this in the weeks ahead. My panel will be on October 4.

Book News

If you missed the recent news, early preorders for The Secret of the Sapphire Sentinel are now up on the publisher's website. General preorders will come later. Read all about the sequel to my Nebula and BSFA finalist book, The Inn at the Amethyst Lantern:

Over at Stars and Sabers Publishing, we are crowd-funding for the third anthology, Of Dread, Decay, and Doom, and would love your help getting this launched. If you or someone you know loves horror, the lineup for this is spectacular. We have under 3 weeks to reach our goal. This would be our most blockbuster anthology yet, if we can make it happen! In other book news, review copies are now in the hands of authors for three of my upcoming books, and of course that always gives me a flutter of excitement. I'm very curious what they'll think of each book.

Cover art is finished for my epic dragon adventure, The Vale of Seven Dragons, but the final cover with title, etc. is not ready for a reveal. That comes out April 7, 2026. The cover is a true stunner! Meanwhile, I am writing its sequel, Coursers of Wings and Flame (for 2027 release) The series is a trilogy, so I'll be writing its finale next year (for 2028 release).

Cover art has just begun for my Appalachian weird horror novella, Godfestation, and I had great fun sharing the concepts with the cover artist. Can't wait to see the final result for that one, out NEXT August. It's a really trippy, spooky, but also touching book.

Writing News

With my recent science writing gig behind me, I'm writing other materials with the hope that they land. I've sent off pitches for non-fiction articles and books, applied to several new jobs, and I've upgraded my Patreon so that I'm going to have more exclusives there at the Inspiration tier ($10 a month). Read all about the options. The free tier continues too: https://www.patreon.com/c/jendiagammon/membership. I not only talk about the craft of writing, but I also give exclusive intel and features, and even some bespoke art.

In terms of fiction writing, I am working toward the goal of sending a particular novel in progress out to literary agents this September. I think it's a highly unique concept, but also has great appeal right now for speculative fiction fans. Let's see what happens next! I have many irons in the fire, as the saying goes.

And meanwhile, I'm out exploring SoCal and hope to work my way to the Bay Area later this year, as I'm overdue a visit there. Forever the road trip queen!

Thank you for following along my journey.

Ad astra,
Jendia
