On Mother's Day

In America, we are celebrating Mother's Day. No matter what your situation was or is with your mother, I am sending you love. And I'm holding my teens close today and thinking of my mother, who I miss constantly.

Artifact Books Signing

Yesterday (Saturday), I took the train down to Encinitas, California to sign books at Artifact Books! That was great fun, signing alongside New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Maberry. I extend a big thanks to Greg, the owner, and to all the readers who stopped by and purchased books. Soon, there will be a special link for you to order signed stock of my books (under my Dotson name) directly from the bookstore. He'll ship!

DOOMFLOWER Release Date!

If you missed the news, I recently signed a book deal for my campy horror novel, DOOMFLOWER, to be released by Encyclopocalypse Publications! I now have a release date of April 8, 2025. So this will come out before ATACAMA (May 13, 2025). Read about this thrilling news in my blog post! More news as I can share it.

Anthology News!

In case you missed the news, we're making our own publishing imprint! You can help us get there. Read more at this link below, which offers rewards for your donations!

Publishing Imprint News and Opportunity
Jendia Gammon published a post on Ko-fi

We've been making initial author announcements on the Ko-Fi page (see under Posts).

What's new? We have announced several more authors, and more are to be announced! Announced so far: Jonathan Maberry, Dennis K. Crosby, Paul Cornell, Ai Jiang, Bonnie Burton, Cavan Scott, Cynthia Pelayo, Eugen Bacon, David Quantick, D.K. Stone, and Ren Hutchings. Starting Monday, we'll have another week of announcements...and beyond!

This is becoming an all-star volume of fantasy, science fiction, and horror authors from around the globe! Every donation helps make this happen.

We've already begun reading, reviewing, editing, and compensating for some of the authors' stories. They have until August to submit, but a number already have, and I can tell you: I am in awe and deeply honored to have these stories in our anthology.

Cover art is in progress by a stellar artist, and we should have that soon. We will debut the cover and full table of contents in summer, with the website debut happening mid-July. The website is being designed by my go-to design team, Dash Creative, LLC, out of Tampa. I've relied upon them for years for all manner of design work. This site will be more complex than my author site, as it will have the e-commerce element as any publisher should. This is very much the wheelhouse of the designers, and I'm confident it'll be a gorgeous, rewarding website. The name of the imprint and its logo will also debut at the same time as the website.

Thank you for your support, as every single donation helps us reach our goal!

Nebula Awards Conference Update

In case you missed the news, I'm a Nebula Award finalist! This is for my young adult debut novel, THE INN AT THE AMETHYST LANTERN (written as J. Dianne Dotson). It was also a BSFA finalist book. And...it might also be up for something else, but I can't share that yet.

I also will be on two panels on Friday, June 7. You can see the conference schedule here. I will be at the red carpet and award ceremony Saturday, June 8.

Following the conference, I will be available for a WRITING DATE in which we write together and you can ask questions. Head here for details on that.

Limited Stock of Signed Books Directly from Me

I'm selling a limited supply of THE INN AT THE AMETHYST LANTERN, my Nebula & BSFA Award finalist book. I can sign/personalize and ship to you if you live in the U.S. Unfortunately, shipping to other countries is prohibitively expensive.

Buy your copy of the book in my Ko-Fi Shop, which is also a place where you can also buy me a cup of coffee or donation, incidentally!

Library Fundraiser

My hometown library in East Tennessee seeks a renovation and needs our help. Let’s get this Appalachian community supported! Without it, I wouldn’t be the writer I am today. I want all generations from now forward to have a library they can be proud of. Donate here and feel free to share.

On the Screen

It was a light week for TV, but I'm diving into the new season of Doctor Who and also seeking out some more John Hughes movies to watch with my teens.

On the Page

I'm reading an advance review copy (ARC) of Stark Holborn's latest book, NINTH LIFE, and enjoying the heck out of that! That trilogy is awesome: space western plus some horror. Great characters, great action.

Writing Update

It's not been the best week for writing, between work deadlines, imprint work as Editor-in-Chief, and travel. But I'm back to it this coming week, working on a sci-fi/fantasy mystery book.

I do not have any submission updates for the dragon fantasy, but hopefully by June there will be news as it's with multiple editors. This is a fun, thrilling book deserving to be published. Wish me luck!

The Week Ahead

More author announcements via Ko-Fi and some novel writing are on deck for this coming week!

Wishing you all a lovely week ahead.

Thank you, as always, for your support.
